If your horticultural operation has been affected by Cyclone Narelle or the associated flooding, your response to this survey could help unlock disaster recovery funding for our region.
As part of the whole‑of‑government response to Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is responsible for assessing the impacts on primary industries across Western Australia. CGA is working closely with DPIRD to ensure this survey reaches as many affected growers as possible.
The information collected will be used to inform an official impact assessment submitted to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), which administers the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements Western Australia (DRFAWA) on behalf of the State Government. This data plays a critical role in determining the final categorisation of the event and the level of assistance that may be made available to the region.
A short online form asking about how your operation has been impacted — what was damaged, where on your property, and to what extent. It takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
Any grower or horticultural business in the Gascoyne region whose crops, structures, infrastructure, or property have been affected by Cyclone Narelle or the associated flooding.
Banana crops — wind or structural damage
Net or shade structures damaged
Flooding near the Carnarvon River
Tomato or vegetable plantings flooded
Any crop type — wind or water damage
Infrastructure or property access damage
Answer a short set of questions about the damage to your operation. The sooner responses are received, the sooner DPIRD can begin the formal assessment process. The survey remains open — you can return and update your response at any time.
DPIRD uses all responses to build an official assessment of the damage to the Gascoyne horticultural industry and submits this to DFES.
DFES uses the impact assessment to determine the final categorisation of the event and what level of assistance may be made available to primary producers in our region. The more complete the data, the stronger the case.
With your separate consent on the survey form, your contact details may be shared with local organisations such as the Gascoyne Water Cooperative (GWC), who have expressed a desire to support affected growers during this difficult time.
CGA is coordinating the distribution of the DPIRD survey to its members. CGA has requested optional approval from members to access their information to help coordinate member support through the recovery period. This is optional and can be indicated on the survey form.
DPIRD leads the primary industry impact assessment as part of the whole-of-government emergency response to Cyclone Narelle. They compile the official impact assessment submitted to DFES to support disaster recovery funding decisions.
GWC has expressed a desire to support affected growers during this difficult time. With your consent on the survey form, your contact details will be shared with GWC so they can reach out to discuss what support may be available to you. This is entirely optional.
Your response helps build the strongest possible case for disaster recovery support for our region. It takes around 5 minutes and the survey remains open for you to return and update your response at any time.
